Christmas Around the World

2020 was a disappointing year all around. In the fall I had some time on my hands so I started meal planning for the rest of the year (which is much more than my typical- 2 or 4 weeks at a time). As I started looking ahead to November and December I realized that our fun family traditions that I usually plan around would likely not take place. We’d miss out on holiday parties and family gatherings. At that thought I realized I wanted to create a safe, fun, new tradition within our own home that my family could enjoy and would still give us fun ways to celebrate Christmas. This is how I created Christmas Around the World.

So I selected 5 countries, researched their traditions, customs, and cuisine, and planned a celebration for my family. I highlighted key details of their history (as history forms our culture and customs), we enjoyed new foods and tried new recipes, and we got a keepsake to remember our celebration.

It was AMAZING! We had so much fun, the kids immediately loved our new tradition and look forward to it each year.

Last year we celebrated 5 new countries and this year I brought it down to 3 since our schedules have filled up again with regular holiday events.

Stay tuned as I show some of the highlights of our “visits” to Chile, Spain, Philippines, Sweden, England, Russia, Ghana, Mexico, France, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Italy, and Brazil.
